Following a review of the Cardiac Conduction system the students will learn about the new “high tech” Cardiac Pacemakers and Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator (AICD) units and why they are being used more and more. Students will learn how to recognize all the different Pacer Rhythms. Students learn about all the common device complications including Pacemaker medicated tachycardia and loss of capture. We will also review cases of interference causing Pacemaker malfunctions and inappropriate AICD shocks.
